Unit 28

Unit 28

Corporate and Promotional Programme Production

Creating a corporate production requires a great form of research; so in this essay will summarise in detail the research I have collected such as, the codes and conventions of two existing corporate and promotional production, the current practises, legal issues and ethical issues.

Codes & Conventions

Another example is a promotional film is the La Redoute advertisement, the company's aim was to "identify the key demographic to discover that "love" in a broad sense was our best entry point to create a shareable film for that audience". This film was innovative and imaginative, this is because they used an attractive male translator to tell a person how much their loved ones appreciate them.

The french language represents warmth, and happiness which is why the producer of the corporate decided to use the french male. Throughout the film you'll recognise a hidden message "if you wear these clothes you'll become loved and more appreciated" and in which they use family to represent this hidden meaning in a way to make the audience feel emotions that entwine with emotions of the film.

La Redoute used a male actor that is dressed in a suit and is also well groomed, this shows a sense of sophistication and professionalism. The reason for this is to show that the company is professional, and that customers will be given good quality service.

The target audience is aimed at mainly women from the ages of 25-50+, the representation of the social class is A,B, and C1, this is because the company is a high street designer shop, that the lower class may not be able to afford. However, they use different family members from a range of ages to show that even though the main target audience is women, they also sell products for all ages groups.

Current Practises

The equipment I will be using to create a corporate film starting with the Cannon D600 camera with image stablising lenses. The reason I'm using this type of camera is because I want to have HD camera footage, which is steady and good picture quality. To get a steady shot I will have to use a tripod which will allow me too shoot shots like; for an interview, jump cuts, match cuts, cut aways etc.

Using a stablising lense allows me to zoom in and out without the image being out of focus or pixelated. I will using a H2 recorder to capture any sound whether it be digetic or non digetic. The reason for using a H2 recorder is so that the sound is clear especially if im trying to record an interview it also can be used as a diary entry to document any important information. The format in which I will be putting my corporate film will be a 1080p HD so that it will be shown in a good quality picture which ever way it'll be shown.

Legal Issues

The legal issues are the questions concerning the protections that laws and regulations should provide. Laws and regulations are important and need to be noticed when creating any form of public media, for instance if you're using actors then they all must have signed an actor release form which will allow a form of media such as a corporate film to be advertised with the actors permission without causing any invasion of privacy.

Privacy is a state in which one is not observed or disturbed by other people, this has to be taken as a precaution because if a form of media has been made public about a person without their consent may cause legal issues. When filming any type of film you must consider the that the actors you use have signed a form of consent, (which is also known as an actor release form) to say they're able to be featured in the production. If however the actor refuses to give consent then the producer will have to re-film the production and find an actor that will allow them to feature in the film or censor the actors face so they're unable to be identified. The same consent takes place if a child is involved with the film, the only different is the parent or guardian of the child will have to sign the actor release form in order for the child to be featured otherwise again they child will have to be censored.

Copyrights is a major part of the media industry because the exclusive and assignable legal right, given to the originator for a fixed number of years, to print, perform, film, publish or record literary, artistic or musical material. This means that any company that uses a form of media in which is copyrighted then the originator has the right to have that form of media taken down or shut away from the media as a result of breaching the copyrighted laws. Further more, an example of a copyright breach, in August 2013, Pharrell Williams ft Robin Thicke's song "Blurred lines" were sued by Marvin Gayes family as they were lead to believe that "blurred lines" background track sounded almost identical to Marvin Gayes song "Got to give it up" and the overall outcome was the family of Marvin Gaye was awarded with $7.4million in damages for copyright infringement.

Libel is a published false statement made by a company or person that is damaging to a persons or companies reputation; a written defamation. An example of libel, is if a newspaper was to make an accusation that a company is committing fraud then the company accused can be sued for defamation. The reason for suing a newspaper for defamation is because publicising something that is false about a company has just been made permanent and will have an impact on the company, even though it may not be true it will never be forgotten by the public. An example for libel was a case that was successful on the behalf Kiera Knightly, the newspaper "The Daily Mail" had wrote that Kiera had an eating disorder and that she was responsible for the death of a young lady with anorexia. Knightly was later on rewarded with several thousands of dollars, in which she then gave to a charity.

Ethical Issues

Ethical issues fall under the legal issues category as well because this to has to be made notice on a count to when using actors, in example  you have to ensure that the film you're making doesn't discriminate any religions, gender or ethical backgrounds. This means ensuring everyone is pro founded as an equal, if this is breached by any means it may not be shown publicly.
